Well-loved spirit brands Tequila Rose, Antica Sambuca and Fireball Whisky wanted to increase their sales and reach new consumers in store.
Having already worked with Linney's e-commerce team for its direct-to-consumer fulfilment, the client, one of the UK's leading spirit distributors, reached out to our Display team with the challenge of creating prefilled display units for grocers. With vast experience creating retail displays for various high-street stores and grocers, our team was more than up for the challenge.
Meeting display requirements
For the first project we shipped 275 units to Sainsbury's for its stores nationwide. The units, designed and produced by us on-site, had to withstand the weight of the product and comply with Sainsbury's display requirements including successful carrying out transit testing–keeping the products secure during transportation.
We fulfilled 11,466 bottles into 273 pre-filled units for the campaign. After a significant brand sales uplift and no product losses, thanks to the smooth-running transit of the units, the client asked us to support a much larger opportunity for Tesco.
Scaling to the project needs
As well as on-site production, Linney is also a fulfilment provider. For the Tesco project, we efficiently managed the arrival and security tagging of 135,000 bottles and produced and merchanded 942 display units. We prepared the stock for despatch in less than two weeks, sending six lorries of prefilled, ready-to-go units to Tesco's distribution centre.
Pre-filled units for heavy merchandise
For both campaigns, it was important that the units could hold the weight of multiple full-size bottles.
The Tesco campaign featured 288 bottles in each two-unit pair, with a combined weight of more than 300kg. The challenge for our Display team was making an attractive unit that customers could easily interact with in-store, which would stay secure in transit while holding the weight of the products.
Our cardboard engineers considered the in-store location of the units to create a design with promotional areas at the front to attract customers. Specialist buffer packaging secured the products during transit.
The drinks brands were happy that the campaigns helped them reach customers using a new channel and increase sales in supermarkets. Using Linney, a trusted supplier, meant they knew the stock would reach its destination safely.
