Interior transformation for Compass at BT HQ

Competing with London’s café culture at BT HQ

BT Centre HQ, the workplace of around 3,000 employees, lies in the heart of London – famous for its strong café culture. To compete with the variety of nearby coffee shops and restaurants, the Linney design team was asked to help with a transformative refit for the three dining spaces available to staff.

Working to refit and reinvigorate each area, we developed attractive new interiors with user-friendly layouts, providing concepts, artwork and all material specifications. A wall feature within the first-floor restaurant, a sculptural design piece, would attract staff and differentiate itself from the two cafés. Digital screens would provide dynamic messaging about what was on sale each day and at key points throughout it – breakfast, lunch and snack times.

With the refit completed, the three areas now have a refreshed and contemporary look. The ‘spoon’ wall provides an eye-catching and dramatic feature in the restaurant entrance; 368 spoons were given an orange lacquer finish which tied in with the restaurant’s heat lamps. The digital screens are dynamic yet work in harmony with the design of each area.
