Badge of honour

We worked with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme to refresh a logo trusted by millions, balancing authority, clarity and digital adaptability in a protected space.

One of the UK’s most trusted organisations put its own trust in Linney Create to design a logo that millions see every day.

A significant tender win launched our two-year project to refresh the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) logo that’s applied as a badge of authenticity to official financial documents, banking apps and more.

We began work with a research phase that involved stakeholder interviews and conjoint analysis to define what the perfect badge should convey. Several issues were identified with the previous logo, including poor consistency, no digital adaptability and a dated look.

Yet, because of the protected nature of the logo, redesigning it wasn’t just about aesthetics or legibility – it had to solve these problems and uphold our client’s authority.

After testing multiple concepts, refining and redesigning, the final version
was agreed and, between June and November 2025, our team updated point-of-sale and guidance materials nationwide. The redesigned FSCS logo went live on 8 November.

UK-authorised banks, building societies and credit unions are now in the process
of updating apps, websites and signage. So, keep an eye out, and remember, only trust the new FSCS logo when it comes to keeping your money safe.
