Inspiring young minds across the UK

In partnership with our client, McDonald’s and the FA, we designed, printed and distributed 200,000 booklets to children across the UK – with the aim of inspiring them to take up football.

Football is fun

The Fun Football Programme, supported by McDonald’s, is an FA initiative that will supply children with five million hours of football over the next four years. The scheme aims to give children from all backgrounds the chance to take part in free local football sessions led by qualified coaches.

The power of print

Linney developed a Fun Football activity book to support the project. The challenge was to excite younger children (aged 5–8) about the game, extending the programme’s reach to those who might never have engaged with football before. Filled with challenges, puzzles, games and stickers, the booklet also contains live action shots captured by Linney’s photography team.

Launch event

The programme launch took place at the England football team’s headquarters at St George’s Park, Burton-on-Trent. The Linney team was there to experience the scheme’s official kick-off by England manager Gareth Southgate, who was on hand to offer tips and advice, alongside Manchester United WFC manager and McDonald’s ambassador Casey Stoney. Since the launch in March 2019, interest in the books has surpassed expectation with over 10,000 orders in the first ten days.

“It was such a privilege to be involved. We’re thrilled with the reaction so far.”
