Delivering a high-quality prospectus at speed

When it comes to undergraduate student recruitment, timing is critical.

For more than 20 years, we've supported the University of Derby in producing its printed publications, building a relationship based on trust, quality, and a proactive partnership approach.

Several years ago, the university faced a significant challenge outside of its control. With artwork due the following day and with no prior notice, it needed a supplier that could move quickly without compromising on quality.

The brief was demanding: proof, print and deliver copies from a 60,000 run of a 168 page prospectus with foil blocked cover within just seven working days.

To add to the complexity, the publication featured images running across multiple spreads, requiring adjustment to achieve the best possible visual impact in terms of readability and print quality.

The prospectus was needed for open days and a distribution deadline for UCAS events, leaving no room for delays.

Delivering when it mattered most

We quickly mobilised our teams to meet the challenge.

Working closely with stakeholders, we managed the proofing, production and delivery process within the required timeframe. Our print specialists carefully reviewed the artwork and made technical adjustments where needed to optimise image reproduction across spreads, ensuring the finished prospectus was of the highest standard.

Alongside print production, we also support the university's ongoing prospectus distribution programme. Through Linney Activate, we hold stock and manage on-demand fulfilment; from weekly data supplied by the university we mail prospectuses directly to prospective students using compostable mailing materials.

Supporting student recruitment year after year 

The success of this project reinforced a long-standing partnership and led to continued collaboration across multiple publications.

Since then, we've produced the university's undergraduate prospectuses for 2026 and 2027 entry, alongside postgraduate publications and additional printed materials.
