Job description:

As part of the growth and development of our Linney ITSO unit, we need an experienced and well-rounded IT Systems and Applications Support team member. The successful candidate will take ownership of IT Support responsibilities, including troubleshooting and resolving any new or ongoing IT service and technical Incidents as well as new or ongoing problem records.

They will also be responsible for real-time monitoring of live services and infrastructure. The right candidate will have a good and diverse technical understanding of systems, applications and infrastructure, with experience working in a high-pressured operational environment.

As a member of the IT Systems and Applications Support team, they will own live service availability in relation to all commercial and business-critical IT systems, applications and digital services.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to internal and external clients in relation to IT and digital service issues
  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT service and technical incidents within agreed SLAs
  • Owning real-time event and service monitoring of IT and digital systems, applications and infrastructure
  • Managing, updating, and progressing IT incident queues and tickets (via SM Toolset)
  • Developing, implementing, and collaborating on IT change activities
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams (including account managers, project managers and service owners) to drive resolution on known issues and technical problems
  • Owning the day-to-day maintenance and housekeeping tasks for IT systems and infrastructure
  • Taking ownership of IT support knowledge base and processes, ensuring that regular reviews and updates are carried out
  • Engaging with and contributing to continual service improvement initiatives

Essential skills:

  • Solid web development experience within an agile environment
  • Skills in C# MVC, C# .NET Core, ADO, SQL and common API technologies such as REST/HTTP, WCF, SOAP, WebSockets, as well as Razor, HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES5/6)
  • Version Control Software such as Git

Candidates need to be able to:

  • Independently test and debug applications in Visual Studio and Azure DevOPs
  • Write high-quality code which adheres to industry standards to ensure the maintainability and reliability of the developed software
  • Take part in code reviews, including using feedback received and providing feedback for others
  • Work as part of a team, enjoy pair-programming, and demonstrate good communication skills
  • Work independently and manage their own time
  • Understand front-end development across multiple browsers and mobile
  • Participate in project reviews and evaluations, giving feedback, ideas and concepts in support solutions development

Desirable skills:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven capability in some or all of the following technical areas:

  • Physical and virtual server support
  • Software and application support
  • Basic network diagnostics
  • Basic understanding of databases and data handling processes
  • Experience with cloud-based server and services hosting (AWS/Azure)
  • Experience with C#, SQL, Javascript
